THS ACDEC Ranks 3RD in State!



The Taylor High School Academic Decathlon team competed in the Texas State Academic Decathlon Competition at the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio and returned with the Bronze team medal and scholarship money.

Interview – Honors Gold, Samantha McIntire; Scholastic Gold, Tristyn Davy; Varsity Gold, Richard Davis

 

Speech – Honors Silver, Samantha McIntire; Scholastic Gold, Tristyn Davy; Scholastic Bronze, Lluvia Allen-Correa; Gabriella Howell, Varsity Gold; Varsity Bronze, Richard Davis

 

Art – Honors Silver, Zane Talavera; Scholastic Bronze, Tristyn Davy

 

Music – Honors Bronze, Zane Talavera; Scholastic Silver, Tristyn Davy; Varsity Gold, Gabriella Howell; Varsity Bronze, Richard Davis

 

Literature – Honors Gold, Zane Talavera; Honors Bronze, Samantha McIntire; Scholastic Gold, Tristyn Davy

 

Social Science – Scholastic Silver, Tristyn Davy

 

Overall winners include:

Honors 5th Place ($500), Samantha McIntire; Scholastic Bronze ($1,000), Tristyn Davy, and Varsity 5th Place ($500), Gabriella Howell

 

Top scorers in each team category for Taylor include Samantha McIntire in Honors, Tristyn Davy in Scholastic and Gabriella Howell in Varsity.

 

Overall, the team amassed 33,913 points in this year’s curriculum, “Water: A Most Essential Resource.”  In addition, each team member will receive $600 in scholarship money. Team members are: 

 

Honors – Zane Talavera ,Junior

  Soryna McIntire, Junior

  Samantha McIntire, Senior

 

Scholastic -  Tristyn Davy, Senior

                    Lluvia Allen-Correa, Junior

 

Varsity – Richard Davis, Senior

                Gabriella Howell, Junior 

 

Alternate – Yahir Cancel

Next year’s curriculum topic will be “The American Revolution and the New Nation.”
